Boiler Control Panel Upgrade & System Optimisation
To address obsolescence and improve efficiency, two modern control panels were installed on existing 150 PSI, 9000 kg/hr steam boilers. This upgrade replaced outdated and redundant controls, significantly improving system reliability and visibility.
The new panels, equipped with oxygen (O₂) trim sensors, enabled tighter combustion control, resulting in notable fuel savings. The strong return on investment made the project easy to sponsor.
As part of the wider optimisation effort, nearby steam traps were replaced, and steam lines were re-lagged to further improve system efficiency. Boiler water chemistry was also assessed and confirmed to be working optimally.
Future opportunities: additional savings have been identified, including insulating the boiler house to reduce heat loss and further cut energy use.
